"All marriages are happy. It's the living together afterward that causes all the trouble."

Building Your Family Fort

1. It's NOT therapy.
Though the process requires openness, honesty, and a willingness to change, the focus is on building a better future, not reliving the hurts of the past.

2. It's up to you.
Your facilitator will not be telling you what to do. They will guide the process to help you find the strategies that are right for you and your family.

3. Everyone gets to be heard.
Though the primary architects of your new 'family fort' will be the parents, the participation of children and extended family members is encouraged.
A Solution for You and Your Family

the family fort is a training program during which family members work with an experienced facilitator to design, and learn to engage in, practices which will build and strengthen family bonds. In a process more often seen in the board room than the family room, family members will employ proven strategies to create the future they want and deserve.
The Good News

It's no secret that marriage and parenting are two of the most challenging journeys upon which a couple can embark. Over the past few decades, the percentage of first marriages ending in divorce has reached 50%. The numbers are even more dire in the case of stepfamily-based marriages; over 65% end in divorce within the first four years.

The good news is, about half of the marriages make it. What do successful marriages look like? How do they handle the additional pressures of parenting, often in a blended household environment? Strong marriages exhibit foresight--realistic expectations; forthrightness--honest and open communication; fortitude--persistence and determination to succeed; and a forever commitment--realizing that the learning and growth required to develop healthy relationships is a lifelong project. These four values make up the 'walls' of the family fort. We are committed to working with your family to achieve alignment of expectations and goals and to create a realistic plan, not only for addressing the inevitable conflicts which arise, but for building a new foundation of behaviors and traditions which will help you thrive.
